There are 15 one-on-one interviews with
America’s top personal and business coaches about their secrets to
success and real-world experiences of growing a successful practice.
Results-Focused
Getting Started in Personal and Executive Coaching is
not about a model of coaching or stories that sound good on paper but
haven't actually been tried in real life and it’s definitely not about
some vague promise of “take these 5 easy steps and you'll have a full
practice in 90 days". Instead, this cutting-edge book lays out
specific, step-by-step strategies for new and experienced coaches to
help them find more clients fast and achieve real results.

1. New Coaches just starting out who are serious about building a
thriving coaching practice and are actively looking for ways to
successfully accomplish this.

find better ways to sell their services and aren’t afraid to try new
things.
3. Personal Coaches and Executive Business Coaches
who want to discover how to expand their services into new
markets and rapidly gain a competitive advantage in the field.
4. Consultants, Psychologists, Therapists, and Professional

How was the research for
the book conducted?
Getting Started in Personal and Executive Coaching
(John Wiley & Sons, 2004) is the result of exclusive research
conducted by Stephen Fairley, a business coach and president of
Today's
Leadership Coaching, on over 300 professional coaches
nation-wide. The coaches were selected at random from an original
sample of over 6,000 coaches as part of Stephen’s doctoral
dissertation.
Each person was invited to complete a comprehensive web-based
survey regarding:
 |
Demographic information
|
 |
Coach training and certifications |
 |
Association memberships
|
 |
Areas of their coaching practice |
 |
Primary target markets |
 |
Sales & Marketing strategies |
 |
Financial marketing budget |
 |
Pricing of services |
 |
Annual revenues |
 |
Number of paying clients
|
“This is a wonderful
collection of strategies on how to get my coaching business
moving into fast forward. I can't wait to put them into
practice. Thank you.”
Morten Kaspar Gudmundseth, MBA, Business Coach
Olso, Norway |
The results were then statistically analyzed and separated into
three groups for further analysis:
 |
Coaches who reported making less
than $20,000 annually |
 |
Coaches who reported making more
than $75,000 annually |
 |
Coaches who reported making more
than $100,000 annually |
In addition, a select group of 15 nationally recognized personal,
executive, and business coaches were personally interviewed by Stephen
Fairley about the strategies and practices they use to build their
business.
The results of this year-long, rigorous doctoral research project
clearly reveals for the first time the characteristics and practices
of financially successful coaches and uncovers the success strategies
of America’s Top Personal and Executive Coaches.
Getting Started in Personal and Executive Coaching is unique
in that it is the ONLY business development book written for coaches
that is based on Real-World Research, not one person’s success story.
